AdGals Wins Prestigious Award

Female Owned and Operated AdGals Is First Bay Area Strategic Branding and Marketing Firm.

TAMPA – AdGals, the south Tampa firm known for excelling at guy stuff - as in the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Kick Ice campaign - is changing direction.

Since 1993, the AdGals women have been behind the scenes, crafting image and marketing campaigns for traditionally high testosterone clients like The Tampa Bay Lightning, global engineering firm PegasusTSI, online learning company Elogic and HR outsourcing firm Sterling Management Group.

With 2008 comes a new focus for the award-winning AdGals, a focus that, quite naturally, aims toward women, the most important buying group on the planet.

“At AdGals we are committed to understanding every aspect of women,” says founder and owner Trudy Anderson. “We are uniquely qualified as women in the surprisingly male dominated world of advertising to speak to and reach women in a unique and intuitive way.”

Women account for 83% of consumer spending in the United States, which equals $4 trillion annually and two thirds of the nation’s gross product, according to WomenCertified, a woman consumer advocacy and retail training organization. When men and women make purchasing decisions together, women tend to have the ultimate say, Anderson says. “If you aren’t reaching women, you’re missing most of the market,” Anderson explains.

From brand strategy to creative execution of advertising to media placement that builds brand culture and loyalty, AdGals helps companies make the decisions that will enable them to achieve their marketing objectives.

“It’s not that we’re going softer; quite to the contrary. We’re going ‘real’, talking to and reaching women by treating them as a circle of our very own girlfriends. We are also revising the coffee klatch, inviting women to dish about our clients in a real way, without the two-way mirrors and forced creative of a focus group, ” Anderson says.

“What we’re finding is that women are building networks and connections online and their viewing habits of traditional media have changed due to increased technology that they use to great benefit of their families for multi-tasking between home and work. They are also becoming more selective about the media that their families consume and are tuning out those marketers who haven’t gone the extra mile to break the traditional female stereotype and ‘tune in,’” she says.

In advertising, there is strength in target marketing, especially when economic times turn challenging, Anderson remarks. “A company needs return on investment, and by advertising to a specific group, such as women, you can make the best use of your dollars,” she says.

Having run the agency for 15 years, Anderson embraces the necessity to care for clients and to nurture their businesses, a trait she feels comes naturally to women. “Agencies come and go, so to last as long as AdGals has in the business, you really have to know how to treat your clients and get results for them,” says Anderson, who has daughters at Plant High and the University of North Florida and a son at Dale Mabry elementary.

As testimony to the firm’s originality, AdGals was recently awarded the prestigious Special Judges ADDY Award for Copywriting, recognizing a campaign for Excellent-Supply.com’s carpet cleaning solution.

“The fact that we can conceive an inventive, humorous campaign for carpet cleaning solution that wins a coveted award just demonstrates the talent of the women at AdGals,” says Anderson, a marathon runner who understands about going the distance.
